Nails
nails in hands
pain
blood
How can one death
mean so much?
All through his life he strived
to take the pain from people's lives
When the religious leaders said to shun the sinners
the prostitutes
the greedy
the foreign unbelievers
He went to sinners doors and opened them
washing their feet and dining with them
He healed the sick
removed their pain
brought sight to a man who was blind, changed
We live in a darkness
right now
We all sin
But when we take that hand that's reaching down
when we let ourselves not be so proud
we can find peace
we can find light
bring a brilliance in the night
He let himself be beaten and hung
up on the cross by four nailed runs
He let himself die in so much pain
so that you and I can enjoy the rain
the bath of forgiveness that baptizes us
We are forgiven because of his love
He's at your door
His hand's on your soul
He's died for you
to steady your whole.
